Contract Operations: Los Angeles CARB (California Air Resources Board)

CAVTC operates the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) Heavy Duty Diesel Emission Testing Facility in Los Angeles under a long-term services contract, under which CAVTC staff successfully brought the facility out of long-term storage and upgraded its capabilities.

Today, CAVTC is responsible for all testing operations, quality assurance and calibrations, facility and equipment improvements, and maintenance and repair. The CARB facility includes a 72-inch diameter single roll dynamometer with tandem axle capability and a maximum HP of 660. Analytical capabilities include heated sample paths, dilution tunnels, three CV flow rates, and a particulate sampling system including microbalance and remote weighing.In addition to operating the Los Angeles facility, CAVTC conducts all public in-use vehicle procurement for CARB's light-duty laboratory in El Monte, CA.
